Prague, March 26–27, 2025
The PREPARE Gathering 2025 began with two dynamic and productive days in Prague, bringing together members, partners, and rural development stakeholders from across Europe. The event marked a significant step forward for the network, combining strategic planning with key organizational developments and new partnerships.
March 26: Strategic Planning and Communication Focus
The first day of the Gathering was dedicated to the strategic direction of PREPARE, with a focus on communication goals and future priorities. The afternoon session began with a comprehensive presentation of PREPARE’s overall strategy, followed by a focused session on the communication strategic objectives. These discussions served as the foundation for aligning the network’s messaging and outreach for the coming years.
Participants then engaged in the Rural Café format, which facilitated small-group discussions across four rotating working groups. Each group explored key strategic themes and provided input based on diverse experiences and perspectives. The session concluded with final presentations from each group, summarizing insights and recommendations to inform PREPARE’s strategic path forward.
March 27: General Assembly and Strengthening Partnerships
The second day opened with a welcome by Radan Večerka, Deputy of the Cabinet Minister at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. His remarks underscored the importance of cooperation and innovation in rural development.
The morning continued with the 11th Ordinary General Assembly of PREPARE. Members gathered to review the network’s progress, discuss organizational matters, and take part in critical decision-making processes. After a coffee break, the Assembly resumed with further updates and final procedures.
In the afternoon, PREPARE members held a joint meeting with representatives from the National Network of Local Action Groups (NN LAGs) of the Czech Republic. This session facilitated valuable cross-border dialogue and collaboration. Two significant developments took place: the formal admission of the Cyprus Troodos Network as a new associated partner of PREPARE, and the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with the ARM LAG National Network, further strengthening regional cooperation in the Western Balkans.
A highlight of the day was the election of Guoda Burokienė as the new President of PREPARE. A new board was also elected, bringing together a diverse and experienced group of leaders:
-
Evelina Azizaj (Albania) – 1st Vice President
-
Aris Adlers (Latvia) – 2nd Vice President
-
Adam Beswick (Sweden) – Board Member
-
Gusta Charouzek (Czech Republic) – Board Member
-

This new leadership team reflects the inclusive and pan-European nature of PREPARE, with representation from across the continent and a strong commitment to advancing rural development.
