The XIII. Rural Forum 2024, organized by Vidiecky parlament mladých na Slovensku (the Rural Youth Parliament in Slovakia), brought together leaders, innovators, and stakeholders committed to the future of rural development in a rapidly digitalizing world. This year’s theme, “Smart Rural Communities in the Digital Era,” emphasized the importance of digital transformation, inclusivity, and sustainable community-building across rural areas of Slovakia and beyond.
As a proud participant, PREPARE was represented by Kim Smedslund, Leotrim Gërmizaj, Monika Slaninová, and Jakub Dvorsky, who all actively contributed to the discussions and shared best practices in rural innovation.
Highlights of XIII. Rural Forum 2024
The forum began with an inspiring Slovak rural anthem performed by the folkloric group Podžiaran, followed by opening remarks from Erika Jurinová, Governor of the Žilina Self-Governing Region. This set the tone for two days of dynamic dialogue on rural digital transformation, community collaboration, and youth empowerment.
A significant moment came with the signing of a cooperation memorandum between the Žilina Self-Governing Region, represented by Erika Jurinová, and the Rural Youth Parliament of Slovakia, represented by Jakub Dvorsky. This partnership aims to foster youth engagement and development in the region, empowering young people to play an active role in shaping the future of rural Slovakia.
