Job Announcement for Project Coordinator in RURBANIVE Project (Horizon Europe Project)

PREPARE (Partnership for Rural Europe) is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator for the Horizon Europe project RURBANIVE. This role involves overseeing project management and implementation activities. The position is of seniority level, offered part-time, with flexible working arrangements.

Position Details

  • Start Date: December 2024 or January 2025
  • End Date: December 2027 (Initial contract of 2 years, with possibility for extension until project end)
  • Working Arrangement: Part-time, telework/homework basis with variable workload. The monthly remuneration (3,500€/month for full-time) will be adjusted based on actual working time and workload requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator will manage the overall implementation of the RURBANIVE project, ensuring activities are delivered on time and within budget. Responsibilities include:

A) Project Management and Coordination:

  • Planning & Execution: Develop and manage project activities, ensuring adherence to timeline and budget.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Complete required reports and maintain project records.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor project expenses and justify costs per the EU requirements.
  • Representation & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the representative of PREPARE, maintaining strong communication with partners, stakeholders, and target groups.

B) Technical Support in Project Implementation:

  • Capacity Building: Design and deliver capacity-building activities for stakeholders in the Rural/Urban Co-Creation Labs (RUCLs), leveraging the Rural/Urban Enablers (RUEs).
  • Policy Analysis: Contribute to policy mapping, participate in mutual-learning activities, and support the formulation of policy recommendations.
  • Communication & Dissemination: Plan and execute communication activities to promote project outcomes.

The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Secretary General and other project and finance staff. Occasional travel for capacity building, policy events, and project sites is expected.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Extensive experience in project cycle management, particularly in EU-funded projects.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in multicultural environments.
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently, remotely, and under strict deadlines, maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Proficient communication, dissemination, and reporting skills, with the ability to present clear and concise advice.
  • Knowledge of rural policies, ecosystems, networks, processes, and programs, with experience in diverse rural contexts.
  • Proven track record in developing training and capacity-building programs, including organizing events.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, adaptable to project demands.

RURBANIVE aims to improve rural communities through social and technological innovation. It establishes a Rural-Urban innovation framework, supporting governance improvements and enhancing policy tools. The project promotes experimentation and innovation to build well-being economies across rural and urban areas, emphasizing cooperation, social connectivity, and participatory processes. The Community of Practice Suite within RURBANIVE ensures rural citizens remain central to policy development.

Key activities under PREPARE’s scope include:

  • Work Package 2 (WP2): Focus on developing Rural/Urban Co-Creation Labs (RUCLs) and implementing capacity-building programs. PREPARE will lead Task 2.4, focusing on stakeholder empowerment through tailored capacity-building workshops.
  • Work Package 6 (WP6): Develop policy recommendations that influence EU and UN agendas on rural-urban synergies. These policies will align with the evolving EU policy framework and learnings from local case studies.
